DESCRIPTION:Contest is Sunday\, April 7th at 4:30PM\nEntry forms are due March 22nd \n1. The winning contestant in each group will hold the title for one year\, then skip a year to be eligible to compete again for the same title. If a person won a title the year before\, but is moving up in age group\, they will be allowed to participate for the title in that group.\n2. In the event there are no contestants to compete for a said title in any age group\, the reigning Queen\, Princess\, or Sweetheart shall hold the title for that given year.\n3. Dress requirements: All contestants must wear a long sleeve western shirt (tucked in)\, western riding pants/jeans\, belt\, cowboy hat and cowboy boots. Any time the royalty represents the club\, they must wear this attire\, their crowns\, and the status banner.\n4. Royalty must set a good example for others while representing Minden Riding Club.\n5. The Royalty must make every effort to attend all activities concerning the club.\n6. When a member of the Royal Court does not follow the rules\, he/she will be asked to step down and the 1st runner-up will be given the title for the remainder of the year.\n7. Age requirements: Queen 12-18; Princess 6-11;\nSweetheart 0-5.\n8. Minden Riding Club Royalty contestant forms MUST be received by March 22\, 2019 to be eligible for royalty competition. DESCRIPTION:Night At The Museum With John Agan\n“Our Webster Parish Historian Tells Our History” \nMonday\, April 8th\, 2019 the 65th Dorcheat Museum event will take place featuring Webster Parish Historian Mr. John Agan. Agan is no stranger to those in our area when history is mentioned. His knowledge of the area is amazing and always interesting to hear.\nJohn Agan is an Assistant Professor of History at Bossier Parish Community College. He is a native and lifelong resident of Minden and earned a B.A.\, M.Ed.\, and M.A. from Louisiana Tech. He serves on the board of several local organizations\, including the Dorcheat Historical Association and Museum. For several years he has written a weekly newspaper column on local history for the Minden Press-Herald. He has published ten books on local history. In 2018\, John was selected as Minden’s Man of the Year by the Minden Lions Club. \nThe museum will have two of his latest books projects on hand for purchase and signing.\nThe museum events will be held in the Media/Learning center at the Dorcheat Historical Association Museum\, 116 Pearl Street\, Minden\, La. Museum doors will open at 5:30 p.m.\, with first-come\, first-serve seating. The course also covers many navigation rules and charts\, trailering\, sailboats\, canoeing\, personal watercraft and more. DESCRIPTION:The Piney Hills LA Master Gardeners will host their Green Thumb Jamboree on April 27\, 2019 at the Webster Parish Extension Office in Minden\, LA from 9am until 3pm. There is no cost to attend the festival. A welcome center in the Teaching Garden gazebo will be manned by Master Gardeners to enable folks to sign up to be on a gardening event email list\, get festival questions answered\, and plant-related questions as well. A variety of vendors\, demonstrations\, and children’s activities will be available for visitors. The PHLMG annual plant sale will also be held at the Jamboree.
