PROGRAM SCHEDULE

The Program commences in September with an orientation reception and ends with a graduation luncheon in May.  Participants meet once each month and travel as a group to various locations throughout the community. Participants will also be required to attend meetings of various community groups including but not limited to the Minden City Council, the Webster Parish School Board, and the Webster Parish Police Jury. Sessions are usually the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The April session is a mandatory, overnight, two-day visit to the Legislature. The Program curriculum includes:

  • Orientation/Community History
  • Simulated Society (SIMSOC}
  • Education
  • Economic Development
  • Healthcare & Social Concerns
  • Nonprofit & Civic Organizations
  • Local Government & Community Development
  • Legislative Affairs

All sessions begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

 

PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES

The Leadership Webster Program consists of nine sessions scheduled in advance, beginning in September. Attendance at all sessions is expected. Participation at the orientation is mandatory as are attendance at the community groups’ meetings with no more than two absences in the remaining sessions. The mandatory two-day session in Baton Rouge is scheduled to coincide with the Louisiana Legislative Session. Participants not adhering to the attendance requirements will be automatically dropped from the program with no portion of the tuition refunded.
